Reshma Kirpalani is a fourteen-time Emmy award-winning video journalist and filmmaker. She is currently a full-time contractor with the Washington Post.
Previously, Reshma worked on the national video team at McClatchy, collaborating with 30 newsrooms across the country to produce stories that impacted federal policy. Before that she worked for the Austin American-Statesman, winning that newspaper’s first Lone Star Emmy award. And prior to that, she spent a summer at ABCNews.com in New York City while getting her photojournalism degree from the University of Texas.
In April of 2020, after joining McClatchy, Reshma got exclusive access to the COVID unit inside a South Miami hospital . She directed a five-part documentary series that followed health care workers and their families throughout the height of the pandemic. That Miami Herald series won two Suncoast Emmy Awards and was screened at two film festivals.
In 2020, the pandemic brought Reshma to Miami, Florida, where she is currently based. She continues to travel across the country, transforming complex topics into nuanced narratives that make a powerful impact.
